SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to transfer protected information between a client and a website hosting server, making it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy clients prefer SSH because of the higher level of security. The connection is made and the commands are sent via a command line. The offered options depend on the type of web hosting service - on a shared server, for instance, files can be transferred or deleted, databases may be imported and exported, and archives may be created or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the choices are much more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software can be set up and more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, because full root access is required and all the other clients on that server will be affected. Although SSH is used largely with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, and so forth.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting

If the shared hosting package which you’ve picked during the signup procedure provides SSH access as standard, you shall be able to activate this feature with just a mouse click from your Hepsia Control Panel. If you've picked a different plan, the SSH access feature may be included via the Upgrades menu and it shall become available immediately. All the information which you need connect shall be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the Control Panel - the hostname, the username and the port number. You can even set what password to use from the same place and you will be able to modify it whenever you want. SSH access is offered by default with some of our semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you are able to add it from the hosting CP if needed - even only for the current month. Either way, you are able to activate and de-activate the feature with one click from the SSH section of the CP. In the same place, you will see the server name, the port number and the username required to connect to our platform. You will also find a box in which you can type the password that you would like to use, because it does not have to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you may also change it as often as you need. An extra function after SSH access is enabled shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client which supports this sort of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

You will be able to use SSH to control your content regardless of which VPS servers you select when you sign up, because all of our packages include this feature by default. You'll not have to add or enable anything by hand - as soon as your hosting server is ready and you get the Welcome e mail with the login info, you can connect and start working on your sites or any software that you'd like to set up and run on the machine. You shall have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be separated from all the other accounts in the physical hosting server, you will be able to do anything you need with no restrictions. You may set up any app that you need and that shall run on a Linux-based machine, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and handle your files and databases quickly and easily.
