An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a computer system and works as the intermediary between all the applications and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an app, it sends requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, web hosting servers also have an Operating System that acts as a host for any software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you will be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we offer all three rather than just 1 because we realize that you may want to set up some software with specific requirements regarding the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are various software applications you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you want to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need another OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a broader choice for the system environment on your server as different apps could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a stable and secure Internet hosting service. Depending on your decision, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also update the OS routinely to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
